How often does LOLER need doing?

At least every 6 months for equipment that lifts people and for lifting accessories, and at least every 12 months for other lifting equipment, unless a written examination scheme says otherwise. In FleetBolt you choose 6 or 12 months for each machine.

Does FleetBolt send email or text reminders?

Not yet. Overdue and due-soon items are shown on your dashboard and the Key dates page every time you open FleetBolt, and you can download the list as a PDF.

Can I store LOLER certificates?

You can add up to 3 photos when you record an inspection, so a photo of the report stays in that machine's history. Uploading PDF documents is not available yet.

Are services tracked by date or by hours?

Services are tracked on the machine's reading, in hours, km or miles, counting from the reading at the last service. MOT, LOLER, tax and insurance are tracked by date, and safety inspections every set number of weeks.

Which dates apply to which machines?

FleetBolt suggests dates by machine type: MOT, tax and insurance for road vehicles; LOLER for lifting equipment; tax and insurance for tractors; and safety inspections for most types. You can show and use any of them on any machine.

What LOLER asks of you

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) require lifting equipment to be thoroughly examined by a competent person. Equipment for lifting people and lifting accessories need examining at least every 6 months, and other lifting equipment at least every 12 months, unless an examination scheme sets different intervals.

You also need to keep the reports and act on any defects they find. FleetBolt keeps the dates and the history; the examination itself must be done by a competent person.
