What happens when a check fails?

Each failed item raises an open defect on the machine. If the item is marked critical, the machine is also marked Do not use. The defect closes when someone records the repair or marks it fixed.

Can one check cover a lorry and its trailer?

Yes. A combination checklist covers two machines in one check, such as a tractor unit and trailer.

Who can see completed checks?

The owner and managers see every check and can sign them off. Operators see their own check history, and the Today view shows everyone what has already been done.

Can I make my own checklists?

Yes. Add your own items with help text, mark them required or critical, and put them in any order. Owners and managers can create and edit checklists.

Does it work without signal?

No. FleetBolt needs a data connection to save a check, so operators in a dead spot should complete it once they are back in signal.

Defects, even without a checklist

Anyone in your team can report a defect by hand from a machine's card, with a description and a photo, and mark it Do not use if it isn't safe. Reporting defects is included in the free plan.

Regular checks and a record of what was found help you show that equipment is maintained and inspected as PUWER 1998 requires, and that goods vehicles get the daily walkaround check DVSA expects.
